Product Description
Our D-type shackles with threaded safety pin are ideal for use with multi-leg slings, sling-to-eye connections, and for use with wider lifting slings. However, when using them under side loading conditions, it is important to consider the reduction in load capacity (WLL).
In a D-type shackle with a threaded pin, a threaded bolt passes through the ends of the shackle and is tightly secured. The large, rounded shape of the shackle allows it to receive load from multiple directions and minimize side loading.
D-type shackles, also known as chain shackles, have a D-shaped bow that is narrower than anchor/shackle type shackles. D-type shackles are designed for use with straight-line pull and should not be subjected to side loading, as this can distort or bend the shackle bow. When using chain shackles, it is important to ensure that the centerline of the load is aligned with the center axis of the shackle.
The configuration with a threaded pin is ideal for applications that require temporary and quick connection and disconnection. It is not recommended for permanent or long-term installations.
Note that when using active lifting equipment, such as a sling in a choke loop configuration, the threaded pin may rotate, twist, or bend, causing the pin to loosen. It is important to ensure that the pin is fully tightened before each lift. When using shackles with a threaded pin, the pin threads must be fully engaged and tightened, and the pin shoulder must be in firm contact with the shackle body.

- All shackles with threaded pins are quenched and tempered, with a high-quality carbon steel bow and an alloy steel pin.
- The manilha bow is hot-dip galvanized and the pin is painted yellow, with customization options available upon request.
- Meets the requirements of ASME B30.26-2004 and RR-C-271D.
- The proof load is 2 times the working load (WLL). The minimum breaking load is 6 times the WLL.
